At UFC Fight Night: Figueiredo vs. Benavidez 2, Ariane Lipski produced one of the most memorable moments in women’s MMA when submitting Carolina Luana in the first round of their much-anticipated bout.

Lipski managed to catch Luana in a rare kneebar submission while on the ground during their fight. The submission didn’t last long, with her opponent tapping quickly before further damage could be caused to the joint.

The unique submission win managed to book Lipski a fight against the sister of a UFC champion, Antonina Shevchenko, but the ‘Queen of Violence’ failed to seize the opportunity. Shevchenko proved too tough of a challenge for the Brazilian, losing via ground and pound in the second round.

This also had a knock-on effect for her next bout, which was also a loss. Montana De La Rosa beat Lipski in the exact same way as Shevchenko, winning via ground and pound in round two.

However, in her latest outing, ‘Queen of Violence’ managed to beat Mandy Böhm via decision and has a chance to continue this momentum this weekend. Lipski will be taking on Priscila Cachoeira at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Hill on Saturday. Cachoeira beat Ji Yeon Kim via unanimous decision in her last outing, so both women are looking to start a winning streak when facing off in Las Vegas.
